Humanity did send colony ships to all known habitable planets in some distant future. On each of these ships was a KI keeping everything working and assuring the development of humanity after arrival. For this task each KI is equipped with all knowledge of humanity from earth.
This way the human colony ‘New Kyōto’ was build. The planet itself is covered in thick foggy forests on many islands/continents.
